The vaulted ceilings with strong colors and large spaces remind us that this building was originally a 17th century silk factory. Laurent and Marie Nowak have turned it into one of the best tables in Manosque, the most dependable without a doubt. Son of Sylvain Nowak (L’Auberge du Colombier) and a veteran of Jacques Chibois and Jany Gleize, Laurent keeps up the image of this establishment on the edge of the old town. Careful cooking and unpretentious gastronomy (three menus under 40€): duck foie gras marbled with cognac, apple-pear chutney and buttered brioche; pan-fried Saint-Jacque nuggets; cod filet and pepper crisp; lamb filet in herb crust and vegetable confit gratin; pineapple carpaccio, mango coulis and sorbet; chocolate brownie. We appreciate the welcome, the culinary mastery, and Julie’s advice on the wines, featuring Southern vintages. Pleasant terrace in good weather.
